The finishing touch that makes a faux plant look genuinely real.

There's one thing that separates a faux plant that looks styled from one that looks placed — and it's not the tree. It's what's at the base. A layer of preserved sphagnum moss tucked over the nursery pot instantly grounds the arrangement, hides the plastic and creates the illusion of something that's been growing in that pot for years. It's the trick professional stylists use, and the difference it makes is immediate.

Our preserved sphagnum moss is naturally dried to lock in its rich, earthy green colour and soft organic texture. It holds its appearance indefinitely indoors — no watering, no upkeep, no fading. Each 150g bag is enough to generously top one large pot or cover two to three smaller arrangements.

Why it works
🌿

Hides the nursery pot

Every faux plant arrives in a plain plastic nursery pot. A layer of moss covers it completely — the arrangement instantly looks finished, considered and real.

🍃

Natural colour and texture

Preserved rather than dyed — the rich earthy green and organic variation in texture looks convincingly natural, not artificial or uniform.

Zero maintenance

Preserved moss needs nothing — no misting, no light, no upkeep. It looks exactly the same the day you place it as it does two years later.

Works in any pot

Whether you're using a tall statement pot, a wide ceramic bowl or a woven rattan basket, moss adapts to any shape and fills the gap between nursery pot and pot edge naturally.

How to use — Place a generous layer of moss over the top of the nursery pot, tucking it around the base of the trunk. For the most natural look, vary the depth slightly — a little thicker toward the edges, softer toward the centre. You can also use moss to fill the gap between the nursery pot and a wider decorative pot, stopping any wobble and hiding the void completely. Works beautifully alongside our Faux Olive Trees, Faux Fiddle Leaf Figs and Pots & Vases.
